Amblions are normally adapted to an extremely arid environment. When exposed to damp and dark habitats like the underground caves of Turuk Na Num, they absorb excessive moisture and “mold”. This produces a curious symbiosis in their exoskeletons, making them home to a multitude of fungi that alter their body chemistry, making them produce even more salts than normal, feeding back the absorption of ambient water. These extra minerals also develop around their forelegs, granting Amblion Fungoids a different attack than their dune “cousins”. Rather than splitting their prey in half with a scissor hug, the Fungoids crush their victims.
